In 2024, Slow Power starting building out a free online class.
This project is on the back burner for now. If you like the class and you want more videos... please let me know: mike@slowpower.wtf. (I knows more now and that would come thru in new videos.)
This class is based on the class that I've been teaching at NABCEP's annual conference since 2016 (except 2019). (NABCEP is the industry's super-legit voluntary-certification organization.)
Here's the related NABCEP's class's description:
# Site Power Systems: A Technical and Financial Overview
This class will help you design, model, and present site power systems (for residential and non-residential). Briefly-covered tech: PV, batteries, heat pumps (and thermal storage), bi-directional EV charging, soft starters, generators, induction ranges, and electricity "routers" / microgrids.
The class considers different system-pricing approaches. It briefly covers utility rate plans / export crediting, the 48E commercial tax credit, and core financial concepts / metrics.
The class considers a vision for a new internet-like electric grid. It briefly explains related electrical concepts (e.g. galvanic separation, power conversion / control, power factor). The assumed site endgame is full energy independence (with the electric grid as optional backup).
The work-in-progress class is here: class.slowpower.wtf.
