I started Slow Power in 2023. My name is Mike Bishop.
I teach a class at NABCEP's annual energy conference. The class is named: Site Power Systems: A Technical and Financial Overview (class description here).
I've also taught this class for PG&E, through their Energy Centers.
I install PV systems and other power equipment thru Oakstead.
From 2007 to 2017, I built out and managed a PV-modeling spreadsheet (OnGrid). 200+ install companies had paid subscriptions. I recently made it free and open source, here.
A long time ago:
From 2006 to 2008, I helped out at a worker-owned PV install company in Santa Cruz, CA.
From 2002 to 2006, I studied environmental studies and politics at U.C. Santa Cruz.
Along with installing power equipment, I write computer code. A demo of the VBA-drenched Excel file used to manage this website is here.
I live in Oakland, CA. With my daughter, her mom, our cat, and three other families.
I love to trail run. A 50-mile trail race last Fall went surprisingly well (here's my blog post about it). I'll do a 100-mile race in late April.
